Difference between Crime and Deviance

Deviant actions violate social norms, whereas crimes violate laws, which are codified norms. An action can therefore be deviant without being a crime—for example, picking one's nose in public. Under these definitions, crimes are deviant actions, but not all deviant actions are crimes.
