Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) is a sexually transmitted disease caused by *Chlamydia trachomatis*. The infection is extremely contagious and common on college campuses, and it is often asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic, presenting as swelling of regional lymph nodes.

Signs and Symptoms of Chlamydia

*Chlamydia trachomatis* can be transmitted easily through fomites such as contaminated towels, bed linens, and clothing and also by direct contact with infected individuals. *C. trachomatis* can also be spread by flies that transfer infected mucous containing *C. trachomatis* from one human to another.
