Functional Neuroimaging Studies of Cognition and Emotion

Functional neuroimaging studies use changes in blood flow, oxygenation, or chemistry to examine brain activity while adults perform cognitive or emotional tasks. They provide a general picture of the brain regions involved in perception, working memory, language, spatial attention, attentional selection, arousal, and positive or negative emotional states. Such studies can also inform investigations of how genetic and experiential factors jointly relate to adult behavior.
