Neutralism with Bacillus anthracis endospores and active bacteria
An example of neutralism occurs in soil when conditions are unfavorable and Bacillus anthracis forms dormant, metabolically passive endospores. If the soil becomes warm and nutrient-rich, some endospores germinate into metabolically active (vegetating) bacteria, coexisting in symbiosis without affecting the remaining dormant endospores.
