Concept

Results of Comparing Five SARS-CoV-2 Serologic Assays

All assays had the capability of testing for antibodies with AUROC values greater than 0.95. The sensitivity of the assays ranged from 76.4% to 93.9% and the specificity ranged from 87.0% to 99.6%. The Abbott and Roche assays had higher specificity and higher diagnostic accuracy for COVID antibodies. The ELISA assays had a higher discriminatory capacity for detecting high neutralizing antibodies (nAbs). Whether the goal is to detect high nAbs or to detect the presence of protective antibodies should impact which assay is chosen.
