Rickettsia rickettsii

Rickettsia rickettsii is a species of pathogenic, gram-negative, obligate intracellular bacteria in the genus Rickettsia. It is the causative agent of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, infects ticks, and can be transmitted to humans via the bite of an infected tick.
