In the study investigating stigma against women with postpartum psychological disorders, mothers with psychological disorders were perceived as significantly less likable than those in the control condition. Specifically, mothers with postpartum psychosis received the lowest likability ratings. This pattern of heightened stigma for mothers with psychosis also applied to other evaluated measures, including a greater desire for social distance, higher anticipated discomfort, increased perceived risk to the child, a stronger inclination to enlist authorities, and lower perceptions of maternal competence.
