Fluency-passage practice and repeated reading with modeling are two oral-reading fluency interventions. In fluency-passage practice, a student reads an instructional-level passage aloud three or four times while time and reading errors are recorded across attempts. In repeated reading with modeling, a paraprofessional first reads a passage or page aloud, and then the student reads it aloud.

Types of Reading interventions

An accuracy intervention is a type of reading intervention focused on helping a student pronounce words correctly and decode (sound out) unfamiliar words. When the student reads a word incorrectly, the instructor stops them immediately and prompts them to try again using a different decoding strategy. If the student continues to struggle, the instructor supplies the correct word along with a strategy for figuring it out, and has the student repeat it back.

Accuracy Intervention

Comprehension Interventions are focused on the student's ability to understand and process what they are reading. With a focus on their ability to explain the important details of the story back to the paraprofessional.
