Hypothalamic Abnormalities in Prader-Willi Syndrome
Although the precise mechanisms behind Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) remain partially unclear, evidence points to hypothalamic abnormalities in affected individuals. Because the hypothalamus regulates essential functions such as hunger, eating, and sexual behavior, its dysfunction in PWS contributes to the syndrome's characteristic excessive eating and the frequent failure of individuals to achieve sexual maturity.
