Latent Viral Infection
A latent viral infection is a type of persistent infection in which the virus remains hidden or dormant within host cells without actively replicating. During dormancy, the virus does not cause symptoms and may be difficult to detect without a diagnostic test, meaning the patient may be unaware they are carrying it until it is reactivated.
