Why Inventory Counts Matter in Electrical Contracting

Regular physical counts establish what materials are actually on hand. Comparing those counts with inventory records exposes discrepancies; reviewing material issues and transfers can then help determine whether items were used on jobs, moved between vehicles, misplaced, stolen, or entered incorrectly. Without periodic reconciliation, contractors may repurchase materials they already have or discover shortages after work begins, increasing costs, delaying completion, and weakening profit control.
