Slime molds, also known as Eumycetozoa, are a group of organisms in the supergroup Amoebozoa that have historically been classified as animals, fungi, or plants. They are divided into cellular slime molds and plasmodial slime molds.

Amoeboid movement is a cellular motility process in some eukaryotic microbes, driven by the gel-sol cycling of actin filaments, where fluid soluble actin flows forward to produce temporary membrane extensions called pseudopodia, followed by the remaining cytoplasm flowing up to join the leading edge.
