Basidiomycota
Basidiomycota (basidiomycetes) are a phylum of fungi characterized by club-shaped structures called basidia that produce basidiospores within fruiting bodies called basidiocarps. They play important ecological roles as decomposers, serve as food, and include mushrooms, rusts, stinkhorns, and puffballs.
