Clostridium tetani

The bacterium Clostridium tetani is the causative agent of tetanus. It produces a neurotoxin that enters neurons and travels to the central nervous system, where it blocks the inhibition of nerve impulses responsible for muscle contractions, leading to spastic paralysis.
