متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

گر ولی زهری خورد نوشی شودور خورد طالب سیه هوشی شود
If the saint drinks poison, it becomes an antidote;
And if the seeker drinks it, he loses his senses.
رب هب لی از سلیمان آمدستکه مده غیر مرا این ملک دست
The prayer 'My Lord, grant me' came from Solomon,
[Who said,] 'Do not give this kingdom into the hand of any other but me.
تو مکن با غیر من این لطف و جوداین حسد را ماند اما آن نبود
Do not perform this grace and generosity to anyone but me.'
This resembles envy, but it was not so.
نکتهٔ لا ینبغی می خوان بجانسر من بعدی ز بخل او مدان
Read the subtle point of 'which is not fitting' with your soul;
Do not attribute the secret of 'after me' to his stinginess.
بلک اندر ملک دید او صد خطرموبمو ملک جهان بد بیم سر
Rather, he saw a hundred dangers in sovereignty;
Hair by hair, the kingdom of this world was danger to life.
بیم سر با بیم سر با بیم دینامتحانی نیست ما را مثل این
Danger to life, danger to life, and danger to faith;
There is no trial for us like this.
پس سلیمان همتی باید که اوبگذرد زین صد هزاران رنگ و بو
Therefore, a Solomon-like resolve is required for one
To pass beyond these hundred thousand colors and scents.
با چنان قوت که او را بود همموج آن ملکش فرو می بست دم
Even with all the strength that he possessed,
The wave of that kingdom was choking his breath.
چون برو بنشست زین اندوه گردبر همه شاهان عالم رحم کرد
When the dust of this sorrow settled upon him,
He had mercy on all the kings of the world.
شد شفیع و گفت این ملک و لوابا کمالی ده که دادی مر مرا
He became an intercessor and said: 'Give this kingdom and banner
With the perfection that You gave to me,
هرکه را بدهی و بکنی آن کرماو سلیمانست وانکس هم منم
Whomever You give it to and show that grace,
He is Solomon, and that person is also I.
او نباشد بعدی او باشد معیخود معی چه بود منم بی مدعی
He is not "after me", he is "with me";
Indeed, what is "with me"? He is I, without a rival.'
