متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

یک خلیفه بود در ایام پیشکرده حاتم را غلام جود خویش
There was once a caliph in days of old
Who had made Ḥātim the slave of his own generosity.
رایت اکرام و داد افراشتهفقر و حاجت از جهان بر داشته
He raised the banner of honor and justice,
And lifted poverty and need from the world.
بحر و در از بخششش صاف آمدهداد او از قاف تا قاف آمده
Sea and pearl became pure through his giving;
His justice and gifts extended from Qāf to Qāf.
در جهان خاک ابر و آب بودمظهر بخشایش وهاب بود
In the world of earth he was cloud and water,
The manifestation of al-Wahhāb's munificence.
از عطااش بحر و کان در زلزلهسوی جودش قافله بر قافله
From his bounty, sea and mine trembled;
Toward his generosity, caravans upon caravans came.
قبلهٔ حاجت در و دروازه اشرفته در عالم بجود آوازه اش
His door and gate were the qibla of need;
His fame for generosity had spread throughout the world.
هم عجم هم روم هم ترک و عربمانده از جود و سخااش در عجب
Both Persians and Byzantines, both Turks and Arabs
Stood amazed at his generosity and munificence.
آب حیوان بود و دریای کرمزنده گشته هم عرب زو هم عجم
He was the Water of Life and the sea of nobility;
Both Arabs and Persians were made alive by him.
