دفتر اول - بخش ۱۰۹ - تفسیر دعای آن دو فرشته کی هر روز بر سر هر بازاری منادی می‌کنند کی اللهم اعط کل منفق خلفا اللهم اعط کل ممسک تلفا و بیان کردن کی آن منفق مجاهد راه حقست نی مسرف راه هوا / Book One - Section 109 - Commentary on the prayer of the two angels who proclaim every day in every market, 'O God, give compensation to every spender; O God, give loss to every withholder,' and the explanation that this spender is the striver on the path of Truth, not the squanderer on the path of desire

متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

گفت پیغامبر که دایم بهر پنددو فرشته خوش منادی می کنند
The Prophet said that, constantly, for admonition, two angels make a fair proclamation: 'O God, keep the spenders well supplied; give each dirham of theirs a hundred thousand in return.
کای خدایا منفقان را سیر دارهر درمشان را عوض ده صد هزار
O God, to those who withhold, give in this world nothing but loss upon loss.'
ای خدایا ممسکان را در جهانتو مده الا زیان اندر زیان
Yet many a withholding is better than spending: do not give God's wealth except by God's command, so that you may receive a boundless treasure in return and not be among the unbelievers.
ای بسا امساک کز انفاق بهمال حق را جز به امر حق مده
They used to sacrifice camels so that their swords might prevail over Mustafa.
تا عوض یابی تو گنج بی کرانتا نباشی از عداد کافران
Seek God's command from one who has arrived; not every heart understands God's command.
کاشتران قربان همی کردند تاچیره گردد تیغشان بر مصطفی
It is like a rebellious slave who practiced justice: he bestowed the king's wealth on rebels.
امر حق را باز جو از واصلیامر حق را در نیابد هر دلی
In the Prophet's warning is admonition for the heedless: all such expenditures become regret.
چون غلام یاغیی کو عدل کردمال شه بر یاغیان او بذل کرد
What do this rebel's justice and largesse increase before the king?
در نبی انذار اهل غفلتستکان همه انفاقهاشان حسرتست
Only distance and a blackened face.
عدل این یاغی و دادش نزد شاهچه فزاید دوری و روی سیاه
The chiefs of Mecca, in war against the Messenger, made sacrifices in hope of acceptance.
سروران مکه در حرب رسولبودشان قربان به اومید قبول
For this reason the believer says, in fear, during prayer: 'Guide us on the straight path.'
بهر این مؤمن همی گوید ز بیمدر نماز اهد الصراط المستقیم
Giving dirhams befits the generous; giving up the soul itself is the generosity of the lover.
آن درم دادن سخی را لایقستجان سپردن خود سخای عاشقست
Give bread for God's sake, and bread will be given to you; give soul for God's sake, and soul will be given to you.
نان دهی از بهر حق نانت دهندجان دهی از بهر حق جانت دهند
If this plane tree sheds its leaves, the Creator grants it provision in its leaflessness.
گر بریزد برگهای این چناربرگ بی برگیش بخشد کردگار
If through generosity no wealth remains in your hand, how would divine grace let you be trampled underfoot?
گر نماند از جود در دست تو مالکی کند فضل الهت پای مال
Whoever sows empties his storehouse, but has betterment in the field.
هر که کارد گردد انبارش تهیلیکش اندر مزرعه باشد بهی
But the one who stayed in the storehouse and economized: the lice and mice of events ate it clean away.
وانک در انبار ماند و صرفه کرداشپش و موش حوادث پاک خورد
This world is negation; seek in affirmation.
این جهان نفیست در اثبات جوصورتت صفرست در معنیت جو
Your form is zero; seek in your meaning.
جان شور تلخ پیش تیغ برجان چون دریای شیرین را بخر
Bring the bitter, brackish soul before the sword; buy the soul like a sweet sea.
ور نمی دانی شدن زین آستانباری از من گوش کن این داستان
And if you do not know how to pass from this threshold, at least listen to this tale from me.
