متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

نفی آن یک چیز و اثباتش رواستچون جهت شد مختلف نسبت دوتاست
The negation and affirmation of one thing are both valid;
When the aspect differs, the relation becomes twofold.
ما رمیت اذ رمیت از نسبتستنفی و اثباتست و هر دو مثبتست
"You did not throw when you threw" — this is a matter of relation;
It is negation and affirmation, and both are affirmed.
آن تو افکندی چو بر دست تو بودتو نه افکندی که قوت حق نمود
That you threw — since it was in your hand;
You did not throw — for God's power manifested.
زور آدم زاد را حدی بودمشت خاک اشکست لشکر کی شود
The strength of a human has its limit;
How can a fistful of dust shatter an army?
مشت مشت تست و افکندن ز ماستزین دو نسبت نفی و اثباتش رواست
The fist is your fist, and the throwing is from Us;
From these two relations, both its negation and affirmation are valid.
یعرفون الانبیا اضدادهممثل ما لا یشتبه اولادهم
"Their opposites recognize the prophets,
As one cannot mistake one's own children."
همچو فرزندان خود دانندشانمنکران با صد دلیل و صد نشان
Like their own children, the deniers know them,
With a hundred proofs and a hundred signs —
لیک از رشک و حسد پنهان کنندخویشتن را بر ندانم می زنند
Yet out of envy and jealousy they conceal it,
And cast themselves as unknowing.
پس چو یعرف گفت چون جای دگرگفت لایعرفهم غیری فذر
Then since He said "they recognize," why in another place
Did He say, "None but I knows them, so leave them"?
انهم تحت قبابی کامنونجز که یزدانشان نداند ز آزمون
"They are hidden under My domes" —
None but God knows them through trial.
هم بنسبت گیر این مفتوح راکه بدانی و ندانی نوح را
Take this illumined one also by the measure of relation:
That you both know and do not know Noah.
