Book Three - Section 38 - Pharaoh Threatening Moses, Peace Be Upon Him

Text and Translation

Pharaoh said to him: Why, O Kalim, have you killed the people and cast fear among them?
In fleeing from you, the people fell; in the rout, people were killed by slipping.
Therefore the people have taken you as an enemy; hatred of you has taken hold in the breasts of men and women.
You were calling the people, but it turned the opposite way; people see no harm in opposing you.
As for me, even if I draw back from your evil, I am cooking a cauldron of recompense for you.
Give up the thought that you will deceive me, or that you will have any follower except a shadow.
Do not be proud of the thing you contrived, that you cast terror into the hearts of the people.
Bring a hundred more like this and still you will be disgraced; you will be humbled, the laughingstock of the crowd.
Many dissemblers like you have existed; in the end they were disgraced in our Egypt.
