دفتر سوم - بخش ۸۰ - قصهٔ خواندن شیخ ضریر مصحف را در رو و بینا شدن وقت قرائت / Book Three - Section 80 - The Tale of the Blind Sheikh Reading the Qur'an from the Page and Regaining Sight at the Time of Recitation

Text and Translation

In those days, that poor sheikh saw a Qur'an in the house of a blind elder.
He became his guest in the heat of summer; the two ascetics were together for several days.
He thought, "How strange: why is there a Qur'an here, since this dervish is truly blind?"
His agitation increased in this thought, because no one else lived or stayed here.
He is alone, with a Qur'an hanging there; I am not so bold or intimate as to ask.
No, I will keep silent and be patient, so that through patience I may reach my desire.
He was patient and remained for a while in distress; then it was revealed that patience is the key to relief.
