دفتر سوم - بخش ۱۳۹ - حکمت آفریدن دوزخ آن جهان و زندان این جهان تا معبد متکبّران باشد کی ائتیا طوعا او کرها / Book Three - Section 139 - The Wisdom of Creating Hell in That World and Prison in This World, That They May Be the Sanctuary of the Arrogant-for 'Come, willingly or reluctantly' (Aitiya taw'an aw karhan)

متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

که لئیمان در جفا صافی شوندچون وفا بینند خود جافی شوند
For the base people become pure in harshness,
When they see faithfulness, they themselves become harsh.
مسجد طاعاتشان پس دوزخستپای بند مرغ بیگانه فخست
Therefore, the mosque of their obedience is Hell,
The fetter of the strange bird is the trap.
هست زندان صومعهٔ دزد و لئیمکاندرو ذاکر شود حق را مقیم
Prison is the monastery of the thief and the base person,
In which he becomes a constant rememberer of the Truth.
چون عبادت بود مقصود از بشرشد عبادتگاه گردن کش سقر
Since worship was the purpose of mankind,
Hell became the place of worship for the rebellious.
آدمی را هست در هر کار دستلیک ازو مقصود این خدمت بدست
Man has a hand in every work,
But the purpose of him is this service in hand.
ما خلقت الجن و الانس این بخوانجز عبادت نیست مقصود از جهان
Read this: 'I did not create jinn and mankind [except to worship Me]',
There is no purpose for the world other than worship.
گرچه مقصود از کتاب آن فن بودگر توش بالش کنی هم می شود
Although the purpose of a book may be that art,
If you make a pillow of it, it also serves.
لیک ازو مقصود این بالش نبودعلم بود و دانش و ارشاد سود
But the purpose of it was not this pillow,
It was knowledge, learning, and profitable guidance.
گر تو میخی ساختی شمشیر رابرگزیدی بر ظفر ادبار را
If you make a peg out of a sword,
You have chosen misfortune over victory.
گرچه مقصود از بشر علم و هدیستلیک هر یک آدمی را معبدیست
Although the purpose of mankind is knowledge and guidance,
Yet for every individual person there is a sanctuary.
معبد مرد کریم اکرمتهمعبد مرد لئیم اسقمته
The sanctuary of the noble man is 'You have honored him',
The sanctuary of the base man is 'You have afflicted him'.
مر لئیمان را بزن تا سر نهندمر کریمان را بده تا بر دهند
Strike the base people so that they bow their heads,
Give to the noble people so that they yield fruit.
لاجرم حق هر دو مسجد آفریددوزخ آنها را و اینها را مزید
Therefore, the Truth created both mosques:
Hell for those, and increase for these.
ساخت موسی قدس در باب صغیرتا فرود آرند سر قوم زحیر
Moses made a small gate in Jerusalem,
So that the wretched people would bow their heads.
زآنک جباران بدند و سرفرازدوزخ آن باب صغیرست و نیاز
Because they were arrogant and proud,
Hell is that small gate and supplication.
