Original content

English translation

'Ā'isha one day said to the Prophet: "O Messenger of God, openly and in secret, Wherever you find yourself, you pray. A child runs about in the impure and lowly house, And you know that every filthy child Has soiled every place it reached." The Prophet said: "For the sake of the noble ones, Know that God makes the impure pure. For this reason the grace of God has purified My place of prostration down to the seventh stratum. Beware, beware — abandon envy of the kings, Or else you will become an Iblīs in this world. If he eats poison, it becomes honey for him; If you eat honey, it will be poison for you. He has been transformed, and his very work transformed; His every fire has become grace and become light. The power of God was with the Abābīl— Otherwise, how could a bird have slain an elephant? A small flock of birds routed an entire army, So that you may know that such strength is from God. If misgiving of this kind comes upon you, Go and recite the Sūra of the Companions of the Elephant. And if you contend with them and claim to be their equal, Call me an unbeliever if you escape from them with your head."
