ربع مسکون چو از طریق شمارشد به فرسنگ بیست و چار هزار
The inhabited quarter, when counted by way,
Became twenty-four thousand leagues.
تو اگر واقفی به صرف و صروفبدلش کن به بیست و چار حروف
If you are aware of transformations,
Exchange it for twenty-four letters.
ساعت شب چو ضم کنی با روزخود بود بیست و چار آدم سوز
When you add the hours of night to the day,
They are twenty-four that consume man.
قاف قول شهادتین ترابی ریا و نفاق و کیف و مرا
The 'Qaf' of your declaration of the two testimonies,
Without hypocrisy, discord, 'how' or 'why',
از همه عالمت برون آردنه به آلت به کاف و نون آرد
Brings you out from the entire world;
Not by tools, but by 'Kaf' and 'Nun'.
از ورای خرد سخن زو گووردت این بس که لاهو الا هو
Speak of Him from beyond the realm of intellect;
Let this be your litany: 'There is no He but He'.
کلمهٔ حق چو در شمار آمدعدد حرف بیست و چار آمد
When the Word of Truth is brought to count,
The number of its letters is twenty-four.
نیمی از بحر جان دوازده درجنیمی از چرخ دین دوازده برج
Half from the sea of soul is twelve grades,
Half from the wheel of faith is twelve signs.
درجها پر ز در امید استبرجها پر ز ماه و خورشید است
The grades are full of the pearls of hope;
The signs are full of the moon and the sun.
در دریای این جهانی نهماه و خورشید آسمانی نه
Not the pearls of the sea of this world,
Nor the moon and sun of the physical sky;
در دریای عالم جبروتماه و خورشید آسمان سکوت
But pearls of the sea of the realm of Power,
The moon and sun of the sky of Silence.
