درخواست پیغمبر (ص) از پروردگار که کار امتش را به او سپارد / The Prophet's Request to the Lord to Leave the Affairs of His Ummah to Him

متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

سید عالم بخواست از کردگارگفت کار امتم با من گذار
The Master of the World requested of the Creator,
Saying: 'Leave the affairs of my community to me,
تا نیابد اطلاعی هیچ کسبر گناه امت من یک نفس
So that no one may gain any awareness
Of the sins of my community, even for a single breath.'
حق تعالی گفتش ای صدر کبارگر ببینی آن گناه بی شمار
The Truth Exalted said to him: 'O great leader,
If you were to see those countless sins,
تو نداری تاب آن حیران شویشرم داری وز میان پنهان شوی
You would not have the endurance for it; you would be bewildered,
And you would be ashamed and hide yourself away.
عایشه کو بود هم چون جان تراسیر شد زو دل به یک بهتان ترا
Aisha, who was like your own soul to you,
Your heart grew weary of her over a single slander.
تو شنیدی بانگ از اهل مجازپس بجای خود فرستادیش باز
You heard a rumor from the people of superficiality,
And so you sent her back to her place.
چون بگشتی از گرامی تر کسیپرگنه هستند در امت بسی
Since you turned away from the dearest person,
And there are many sinful ones in the community;
تو نداری تاب چندانی گناهامت خود را رها کن با اله
You do not have the tolerance for so much sin;
Leave your community to God.
گر تو می خواهی که کس را در جهاناز گناه امتت نبود نشان
If you wish that no one in the world
Should have any trace of your community's sins,
من چنان می خواهم ای عالی گهرکز گنه شان هم ترا نبود خبر
I want it so, O noble gem,
That even you should have no knowledge of their sins.
تو بنه پای از میان رو با کنارکار امت روز و شب با من گذار
Step aside and go to the margin,
Leave the affairs of the community to Me, day and night.
کار امت چون نه کار مصطفاستکی شود این کار از حکم تو راست
Since the affairs of the community are not Mustafa's affair,
How can this matter be set right by your judgment?
می مکن حکم و زفان کوتاه کنبی تعصب باش و عزم راه کن
Do not judge, and hold your tongue,
Be free from fanaticism, and set out on the path.
آنچ ایشان کرده اند آن پیش گیردر سلامت رو طریق خویش گیر
Take up what they have done,
Walk in safety and take your own path.
یا قدم در صدق نه صدیق واریا نه چون فاروق کن عدل اختیار
Either step in truthfulness like the Siddiq,
Or else, like the Faruq, choose justice,
یا چو عثمن پر حیا و حلم باشیا چو حیدر بحر جود و علم باش
Or like Uthman, be full of modesty and forbearance,
Or like Haydar, be an ocean of generosity and knowledge.
یا مزن دم، پند من بپذیر روپای بردار و سرخود گیر رو
Or say nothing, accept my advice and go,
Step forward and go your own way.
تو چه مرد صدق و علم حیدریمرد نفسی هر نفس کافرتری
What man of truthfulness or of Haydar's knowledge are you?
You are a slave to the ego, and with every breath, you are more of an infidel!
نفس کافر را بکش مؤمن بباشچون بکشتی نفس را ایمن بباش
Kill the infidel ego and be a believer,
Once you have killed the ego, be secure.
در تعصب این فضولی می مکناز سر خویش این رسولی می مکن
Do not engage in this meddlesome fanaticism,
Do not play the messenger on your own authority.
نیست در شرعت سخن تنها قبولچه سخن گویی ز یاران رسول
In your law, speech alone is not accepted;
Why do you speak of the companions of the Messenger?
نیست در من این فضولی ای الهاز تعصب دار پیوستم نگاه
I do not have this meddling in me, O God,
Keep me always safe from fanaticism.
پاک گردان از تعصب جان منگو مباش این قصه در دیوان من
Purify my soul from fanaticism,
Even if it means this story is not in my divan.'
