دفتر چهارم - بخش ۴ - سؤال کردن از عیسی علیه‌السلام کی در وجود از همهٔ صعبها صعب‌تر چیست / Book Four - Section 4 - Asking Jesus, Peace Be Upon Him, What in Existence is the Most Difficult of All Difficulties

Original content

English translation

One clear-headed soul asked Jesus: "What in all of existence is the most difficult?"

He said: "O soul, the most difficult is the wrath of God, from which Hell itself trembles as we do."

He said: "From this wrath of God, what is the refuge?" He said: "Abandoning one's own wrath at once."

So the oppressor who became the mine of this wrath— his ugly wrath surpassed even that of the beasts.

What hope has he for mercy, unless that graceless one turns back from that attribute?

Though the world cannot do without such men, this speech is not one that should cast anyone into error.

The world likewise could not do without hemlock, yet that hemlock was not pure flowing water.
