بنه آیینه ای اندر برابردر او بنگر ببین آن شخص دیگر
Place a mirror in front of yourself,
Look into it and see that other person.
یکی ره باز بین تا چیست آن عکسنه این است و نه آن پس کیست آن عکس
Look once again to see what that reflection is;
It is neither this nor that, so who is that reflection?
چو من هستم به ذات خود معینندانم تا چه باشد سایهٔ من
Since I am determined in my own essence,
I do not know what my shadow could be.
عدم با هستی آخر چون شود ضمنباشد نور و ظلمت هر دو با هم
How can non-being and being be joined together?
Light and darkness cannot exist together.
چو ماضی نیست مستقبل مه و سالچه باشد غیر از آن یک نقطهٔ حال
Since the past is gone, and the future months and years do not yet exist,
What is there besides that single point of the present moment?
یکی نقطه است وهمی گشته ساریتو آن را نام کرده نهر جاری
It is a single point that has become flowing through illusion,
And you have named it a running river.
جز از من اندر این صحرا دگر کیستبگو با من که تا صوت و صدا چیست
Who else is in this desert besides me?
Tell me, what then is this sound and echo?
عرض فانی است جوهر زو مرکببگو کی بود یا خود کو مرکب
The accident is fleeting, and substance is composed of it;
Tell me, when did it exist, or where indeed is the compound?
ز طول و عرض و از عمق است اجساموجودی چون پدید آمد ز اعدام
Bodies are made of length, width, and depth;
How did existence emerge from non-existences?
از این جنس است اصل جمله عالمچو دانستی بیار ایمان و فالزم
Of this nature is the origin of the entire universe;
When you have known this, bring faith and hold fast to it.
جز از حق نیست دیگر هستی الحقهوالحق گو و گر خواهی انا الحق
In truth, there is no other existence besides the Truth.
Say 'He is the Truth,' or if you wish, 'I am the Truth.'
نمود وهمی از هستی جدا کننه ای بیگانه خود را آشنا کن
Separate the illusory appearance from true existence,
You are not a stranger, make yourself familiar.
