Section 53 - Address to those to whom the secret of destiny has been revealed

Text and Translation

O you to whom the secret of destiny has been revealed,
Do not tear the veil of earnestness and striving.
Let go of yourself and flee to God,
Break away from yourself and cling to God.
Although you are commanded to have free will,
Yet within free will, you are compelled.
See in this workshop of illusion and imagination,
Yourself in the streams of actions
As a mold devoid of its own free will,
Upon which the actions of the Truth are flowing.
Whatever flows upon it of actions,
Look, for its state is not outside of two:
Either it is of the causes of proximity and pleasure,
Or it is of the effects of distance and abandonment.
If the deed is of the first kind,
Count it as the blessing of the Truth and be thankful.
For by thankfulness His bounties become widespread,
And by thankfulness His blessings endure.
Thankfulness is the key to the treasure of abundance,
If you want the treasure, do not let go of the key.
And if your deed is of the second kind,
Count it as stemming from your ugly-acting self.
Cast the crime and disobedience upon yourself,
Cast your head down in shame.
Adopt apology and seeking forgiveness,
Bring forth helplessness, poverty, and brokenness.
Saying, 'O God, I am a sinful servant,
I have mountains of sins around me.
There is no one to accept excuses but You,
My excuse is Your forgiveness, and that is enough.'
