بخش ۴ - اشارت به معنی تنزیه که متقضای عقل و تشبیه که موجب سمع است با تنبیه بر آنکه کمال در مرتبه جمع است / Section 4 - Allusion to the Meaning of Transcendence Necessitated by Intellect and Immanence Required by Revelation, with an Admonition that Perfection Lies in the Degree of Union

Text and Translation

Only the Truth Himself can describe the Truth;
The intellect cannot pierce this pearl.
Give the explanation of the attributes of His Essence from Him;
No one knows His attributes better than Him.
With whatever He describes Himself,
Do not define Him contrary to that.
And from whatever He sanctifies Himself,
Do not practice deception in affirming it.
Do not be so engrossed in transcendence,
That you become characterized by the negation of attributes.
Nor be so inclined toward immanence,
That you profess belief in body and direction.
Whatever is the sanctification of the Essence and transcendence,
And whatever signifies the negation of immanence,
Its reference is the detachment of the Essence,
From being clothed in the dictates of the attributes.
Whatever is immanence and limitation,
And whatever is based on restriction or conditioning,
Its origin is the clothing of the Entity,
In manifestation through the garments of the two worlds.
If you are among the masters of spiritual taste and perception,
And are free from restriction to one side,
Do as I have admonished you:
Combine transcendence with immanence.
Hold each one in its proper place,
Keep your eye on what it necessitates.
Do not become one-eyed regarding the attributes of the Truth;
Open your eye a little toward each one.
Seek refuge from the evil of the one-eyed Dajjal,
In the majority of circumstances.
Be moderate, for whoever is a person of heart,
Is moderate in all matters.
The middle has become the locus of honor and nobility;
Turn to the middle away from both extremes.
So that it may bring you to glory and splendor,
The maxim: 'The best of affairs is the middle.'
