متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

جل من لااله الا هولا تقل کیف هو و لا ما هو
Glorious is He, there is no god but He.
Do not say how He is, nor what He is.
کل فی نعت ذاته الالسنحار فی نور و جهه الأعین
Tongues become weary in describing His essence.
Eyes are bewildered in the light of His face.
لمعات جمال او ظاهرسبحات جلال او قاهر
The flashes of His beauty are manifest.
The glories of His majesty are overpowering.
فیض لطفش چو نورپاش شودتف قهرش چو دور باش شود
When the bounty of His grace scatters light,
The heat of His wrath acts as a repeller.
هر چه مفهوم عقل و ادراک استساحت قدس او ازان پاک است
Whatever is comprehended by intellect and perception,
His holy precinct is pure of it.
قدس ذاتش چو برتر از کیف استکیف هو گفتن اندر او حیف است
Since the holiness of His essence is beyond "how,"
Saying "how is He" regarding Him is unjust.
چون نه نوع آمد و نه جنس او راپس چه معنی سئوال ما هو را
Since neither species nor genus applies to Him,
Then what is the meaning of the question "what is He"?
ما و هو چیست لا و هو می گویراه ازین لا و هو بدو می جوی
What are "what" and "how"? Say "no" (la) and "He" (hu).
Seek the way to Him through this "no" and "He" (negation and affirmation).
لا و هو هر دو نفی و اثباتندنافی غیر و مثبت ذاتند
"La" and "hu" are both negation and affirmation;
Negating the other and affirming the Essence.
چند از این غافلی و گمراهیلا و هو ورد خود کن ای لاهی
How much of this heedlessness and waywardness?
Make "la" and "hu" your litany, O heedless one!
تا دهد لا و هوت قوت و قوتببرد تا سرادق لاهوت
So that "la" and "hu" may give you strength and sustenance,
And take you to the pavilion of the divine realm (Lahut).
به هوا و هوس در او نرسیتا ز لا نگذری به هو نرسی
By desire and whim, you will not reach Him;
Until you pass beyond "la" (negation), you will not reach "hu" (Him).
هو کفایت ز غیب ذات شناسمکنش بر دگر ذوات قیاس
Recognize "hu" as sufficient for the unseen Essence,
Do not compare Him to other essences.
هیچ ذاتی به ذات او نرسدعقل کل در صفات او نرسد
No essence reaches His essence,
Universal intellect does not reach His attributes.
این چه مجد و بهاست سبحانهوین چه عز ما اعز سلطانه
What glory and splendor is this! Glorified is He!
And what might is this! How mighty is His dominion!
ای همه قدسیان قدوسیگرد کوی تو در زمین بوسی
O You, the Holy One for all the holy beings!
They kiss the ground around Your lane.
دو جهان جلوه گاه وحدت توشهد الله گواه وحدت تو
Both worlds are the manifestation place of Your unity,
"God bears witness" is the witness to Your unity.
هم مقر گفته با تو هم جاحدلمن الملک لله الواحد
Both the confessor and the denier have said to You:
"To whom belongs the dominion? To God, the One."
پرتو روی توست از همه سوهمه را رو به توست از همه رو
The radiance of Your face is from every direction;
Everyone's face is toward You from every side.
همه در راه و راه می جوینداز غمت آه آه می گویند
All are on the path, seeking the path;
Out of longing for You, they say, "Ah, ah."
مبتدی در ره تو مویه کناننعره اهدناالصراط زنان
The beginner on Your path, weeping,
Cries out, "Guide us on the straight path!"
منتهی در سجود بین یدیکگفته کیف الطریق رب الیک
The one at the end, prostrating before You,
Says, "How is the way, O Lord, to You?"
بنما ره که طالب راهیمره به سوی تو از تو می خواهیم
Show the way, for we are seekers of the way;
We ask for the way to You from You.
قطع این ره به راه پیماییکی توان کرد دگر تو ننمایی
Traversing this path by mere wayfaring,
How can it be done if You do not show it?
