متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

با هر که نشستی و نشد جمع دلتوز تو نرمید زحمت آب و گلت
With whomever you sat and your heart did not find tranquility,
And the trouble of your water and clay (physical nature) did not leave you,
زنهار ز صحبتش گریزان می باشور نی نکنی روح عزیزان بحلت
Beware, flee from their company!
Otherwise, the souls of the beloved saints will not pardon you.
از زمین و زمان برون بردتوز مکین و مکان برون بردت
[The true guide] takes you beyond earth and time,
And takes you beyond both inhabitant and place.
از می عشق بیخودت سازدوز علایق مجردت سازد
He makes you selfless with the wine of love,
And makes you detached from worldly ties.
دولت صحبت چنین پیریمس قلب توراست اکسیری
The blessing of the companionship of such an elder (Pir)
Is an elixir for the copper of your heart.
تا شود زر مس تو زان اکسیربگسل از خویش و دامن آن گیر
So that your copper becomes gold through that elixir,
Break away from yourself and grasp his hem.
بر در او مقیم و قائم باشتا بود جان بجا ملازم باش
Reside and stand firm at his door;
As long as life remains, be his constant attendant.
حرف خود بر تراش روز به روزسبق فقر و درس عشق آموز
Scrape away your own words day by day;
Learn the lesson of spiritual poverty (faqr) and the teaching of love.
تا که آید ز فر دولت اونسبت جذب عشق بر تو فرو
Until, through the splendor of his blessing,
The connection of love's attraction descends upon you.
گرچه عاریت است اول کارملک گردد در آخر از تکرار
Although it is borrowed at the beginning of the work,
It becomes your own property in the end through repetition.
چیست تکرار آنکه جذب درونچون شود کم ز شغل گوناگون
What is repetition? It is that when inner attraction
Diminishes due to various worldly occupations,
آوری سوی پیر روی نیازبه سر رشته خود آیی باز
You turn your face of need toward the Pir,
And return to the start of your own thread.
پیش آن آفتاب از سر نوپست گردی برای یک پرتو
Before that sun, anew,
You lower yourself for the sake of a single ray.
تا فتد بر تو پرتوی زان نورافتی از گفت و گوی عالم دور
Until a ray of that light falls upon you,
And you fall far from the chatter of the world.
همچنین می کن این وظیفه ادامرة بعد مرة اخری
Likewise, perform this duty,
Time after time, over and over.
تا شود راسخ آن صفت زانسانکه نباشد زوال آن آسان
Until that quality becomes so deeply rooted in you
That its decline will not be easy.
