(۱۰) حکایت ابوالفضل حسن و کلمات او در وقت نزع / (10) The Tale of Abu'l-Fadl Hasan and His Words at the Moment of Death

متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

چو بوالفضل حسن در نزع افتادیکی گفتش که ای شرع از تو آباد
When Abu'l-Fadl Hasan was in the throes of death,
Someone said to him: 'O you by whom the Sharia is made prosperous,'
چو برهد یوسف جان تو از چاهفلان جائی کنیمت دفن آنگاه
'When the Joseph of your soul escapes from the well,
At such-and-such place we shall bury you then.'
زبان بگشاد شیخ و گفت زنهارکه آن جای بزرگانست و ابرار
The Sheikh opened his tongue and said: 'Beware!
For that is the place of the great and the righteous.'
که باشد همچو من صد بی سر و پایکه خود را گور خواهد در چنان جای
'Who is a wretch like me,
To desire a grave in such a place?'
بدو گفتند ای نیکو دل پاککجا خواهی که آنجا باشدت خاک
They said to him: 'O good, pure-hearted soul,
Where do you wish your dust to be?'
زبان بگشاد با جانی همه شورکه بر بالای آن تل بایدم گور
He opened his tongue, his soul filled with passion:
'My grave must be on top of that hill,'
که آنجا هم خراباتی بسی هستهم از دزدان بی حاصل کسی هست
'For there are many taverns and ruins there,
And some of the fruitless thieves are there as well.'
مقامر نیز بسیارند آنجاهمی جمله گنه گارند آنجا
'Gamblers are also numerous there,
And all of them are sinners there.'
کنیدم دفن هم در جای ایشاننهید آنگه سرم بر پای ایشان
'Bury me in their place,
And then lay my head at their feet.'
که من درخورد ایشانم همیشهکه در معنی چو دزدانم همیشه
'For I am always fit for them,
Since in essence I am always like thieves.'
میان این گنه گارانست کارمکه با آن کاملان طاقت ندارم
'My place is among these sinners,
For I have no capacity to be with those perfect ones.'
چه گر این قوم بس تاریک باشندبنور رحمتش نزدیک باشند
'What if this group is very dark?
They are close to the light of His mercy.'
چو جائی تشنگی باشد بغایتکشد در خویشتن آبی نهایت
'Wherever thirst is extreme,
It ultimately draws water to itself.'
که هر جائی که عجزی پیش آیدنظر آنجا ز رحمت بیش آید
'For wherever helplessness arises,
The gaze of mercy falls there even more.'
