شنودم حال بوالفش چغانی	که گفتندش چرا خر می نرانی
I heard the tale of Bu'l-Fash Chaghani, When they asked him, 'Why do you not drive your donkey?
که چون خورشید روشن روی در گشت	بتاریکی فرومانی درین دشت
For when the bright sun sets, You will remain stranded in the darkness of this plain.'
تو هم ای برده اندر دشت خوابت	نراندی خر فروشد آفتابت
You too, O one overcome by sleep in the plain, You did not drive your donkey, and your sun has gone down.
