بخش ۴ - فی فضیلت امیرالمؤمنین علی رضی الله عنه / Section 4 - On the Virtue of the Commander of the Faithful Ali, May Allah Be Pleased with Him

متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

سوار دین پسر عم پیمبرشجاع صدر صاحب حوض کوثر
The rider of religion, the cousin of the Prophet,
The brave leader, the master of the pool of Kawthar.
به تن رستم سوار رخش دلدلبدل غواص دریای توکل
In body like Rostam, rider of the steed Duldul,
In heart, a diver in the sea of reliance on God.
علی القطع افضل ایام او بودعلی الحق حجه الاسلام او بود
Absolutely, he was the best of his days,
In truth, he was the proof of Islam.
منادی سلونی درجهان دادبیک رمز از دو عالم صد نشان داد
He called out 'Ask me' to the world,
With one sign, he gave a hundred indications of the two worlds.
چنین باید نماز ار اهل رازیکه تا باشد نماز تو نمازی
Thus must prayer be if you are a person of mystery,
So that your prayer may truly be a prayer.
چنان شد در نماز از نور حق جانشکه از پائی برون کردند پیکانش
In prayer, his soul was so illuminated by the light of Truth,
That they pulled an arrowhead from his foot.
نمازش چون چنین باشد گزیدهبه الحمدش چنان گردد بریده
When his prayer is thus chosen,
In his recitation of Al-Hamd he becomes completely severed from the world.
ز جودش ابر دریا پرتوی بودبه چشمش عالمی پر زر جوی بود
From his generosity, the cloud of the sea was but a reflection,
In his eyes, a world full of gold was like a barleycorn.
تو ای زر زرد گرد از ناامیدیتو نیز ای سیم میکن این سپیدی
You, O gold, turn pale from despair!
You too, O silver, make this whiteness pale!
که چون این سرخ رو سبز ره شدسپید و زرد بر چشمش سیه شد
For when this red-faced one became the green guide of the path,
White and yellow became black in his eyes.
زهی صدری که تا بنیاد دین بوددلش اسرار دان و راه بین بود
Hail the leader who, as long as the foundation of religion existed,
His heart was the knower of secrets and the seer of the way.
ز طفلی تا که خود را پیر کردیبرین دنیای دون تکبیر کردی
From childhood until you became old,
You renounced this base world.
چو دنیا آتش و تو شیر بودیاز آن معنی ز دنیا سیر بودی
Since the world was fire and you were a lion,
For that reason you were satiated with the world.
اگرچه کم نشیند گرسنه شیرنخوردی نان دنیا یک شکم سیر
Even though a hungry lion rarely sits still,
You never ate a full belly of the bread of this world.
از آن جستی به دنیا فقر و فاقهکه دنیا بود پیشت سه طلاقه
Therefore you sought poverty and destitution in the world,
For the world was thrice-divorced before you.
الا یا در تعصب جانت رفتهگناه خلق با دیوانت رفته
Oh you whose soul is lost in fanaticism,
The sins of the people have entered your ledger.
ز نادانی دلی پر زرق و پر مکرگرفتار علی گشتی و بوبکر
Out of ignorance, with a heart full of deceit and cunning,
You have become entangled in arguing over Ali and Abu Bakr.
گهی این یک بود نزد تو مقبولگهی آن یک شود از کار معزول
Sometimes this one is accepted by you,
Sometimes that one is dismissed from office.
گرین یک به گر آن دیگر ترا چهچو تو چون حلقهٔ بر در ترا چه
If this one is better or the other, what is it to you?
Since you are like a knocker on the door, what is it to you?
همه عمرت درین محنت نشستیندانم تا خدا را کی پرستی
All your life you have sat in this tribulation,
I do not know when you will worship God.
ترا چند از هوا راه خدا گیرخدایت گر ازین پرسد مرا گیر
How long will you follow desire? Take the way of God!
If your God questions you about this, hold me responsible.
یقین دانم که فردا پیش حلقهیکی گردند هفتاد و دو فرقه
I know for certain that tomorrow at the door ring,
The seventy-two sects will become one.
چه گویم جمله گر زشت ار نکویندچو نیکو بنگری جویان اویند
What should I say? Whether they are ugly or beautiful,
When you look closely, they are all seekers of Him.
خدایا نفس سرکش را زبون کنفضولی از دماغ ما برون کن
O God, humiliate the rebellious ego,
Remove meddling from our brains.
دل ما را بخود مشغول گردانتعصب جوی را معزول گردان
Make our hearts occupied with You,
Dismiss the seeker of fanaticism.
